The Lucia Pageant and Breakfast is a wonderful morning of Christmas fun at Hope Covenant Church!
The morning begins with a program centered around the Swedish festival of St. Lucia. The program consists of Christmas Carols, the telling of the Lucia Story, and Traditional Swedish folk music by renown Scandanavian Folk Group, Chicago Spelmanslag. The program concludes with a breif Lucia "pageant" where children and teens process in to the sanctuary in costume, culminating in the Lucia Queen (This year Orland Park resident and Sandburg Student Nadia Ghouleh) who processes in with LIT CANDLES ON HER HEAD!
Following the program and pageant is a traditional Swedish brunch including Cardamom Coffee Cake, Rye Bread, Bondost (cheese), Korv, Pickled Herring, and (of course) rice pudding! A small swedish gift market will also be set up with all proceeds going to those in need. This year there is no tickets required to attend the event but attendees are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation to help cover expenses. RSVP IS REQUIRED.
